Rules for Online Blackjack

The goal in blackjack is to ultimately have a better hand than the dealer’s hand without going over 21, which is also known as busting.

• Before the dealer deals the cards, players will first have to place their bets. Online, bets can be found as low as $1 to as high as $500 per hand. In a brick and mortar casino, bets will generally start around $5.

• After all the bests have been placed, the dealer will then deal all the cards first starting with the player to his or her left. Each player will receive two cards with the dealer’s second card being dealt face up.

• Now, once the cards have been dealt, a player will then want to determine the value of their hand. In blackjack, most of the cards value is their ‘face’ value. So for example, a 2 is worth 2, 10 is worth 10, 3 is worth 3 and so forth. All face cards are worth 10 and aces are worth 11 or 1. Any hand that consists of an ace is considered a ‘soft’ hand while any hand that doesn’t have an ace s considered a ‘hard’ hand. All the hands should be totaled up so that players know the total value of their hand.

• Once a player knows the value of his or her hand, they can then make one of several plays.

Stand: One of the options that a player has is to ‘stand.’ When a player stands, they have decided that their hand is good enough to go up against the dealer’s and does not take another card. Online there will be a ‘stand’ button while a wave of the hand is all a player needs to do in a brick and mortar casino.

An example of a hand that a player may stand with is a 20, 19 or even an 18.

Hit: Now, the complete opposite of standing on a hand is “hitting’ a hand. When a player “hits” they are saying that they want the dealer to give them another card. For example, a hand that a player may hit would be when they have a 5-4 or 2-6 and so forth. The dealer would ‘hit’ the player as much as the player wants until the player decides to ‘stand’ or ‘busts’ (goes over 21).

Double Down: Doubling Down in blackjack is when a player matches their original bet in exchange for one more card. For example, hands that players tend to double down with are any combination that makes an eleven in hopes to hit a face card and double their profit. So, a player may make an initial $5 bet and get dealt a 5-6 then decide to double down; so, they will have to match the $5 and then the dealer will give them one card. It will not matter if the card is a 2 or a 6 or whatever; the player only gets one card when doubling down. So, be sure to realize that doubling down does carry a minor risk in which a player will not be able to hit their hand after doubling down.

Splitting: When a player is dealt a pocket pair, they have the option to split the two cards and make each one into its own separate hand.

For example, if a player were dealt a pair of 4′s, they can split those into two separate hands. This player would have to pay another bet, and then would play each hand separately. The dealer would give the player another card for the first hand and the player can then stand, hit or double down and once he is done with that hand, then they’d move to the second hand.

When splitting hands, players can win one hand and lose the other, lose both hands or win both hands. Often this can be a great way to break even and get your money back depending on the circumstance.

• Another thing to know about is ‘insurance.’ Insurance is when a dealer has an ace face up and offers the opportunity to pay a small fee ‘in case’ the dealer has a natural 21. If a player buys the insurance and the dealer has 21, then the player can keep his or her original bet. If not, the players will lose their money to a 21.

• There are a few things that players should be aware of that may vary from casino to casino.

Soft 17: Most casinos will make their dealer hit their soft 17′s. So any hand that the dealer has that consists of an ace will require the dealer to hit his or her hand. This can prove to be a positive for the player as this will be another opportunity for the dealer to bust.

Surrender: Surrendering is when a player can ‘surrender’ half his or her bet after seeing their cards and the up cards of the dealer. This is very uncommon.

Playing Blackjack Online

Learning how to play blackjack will literally only take most players a few minutes to learn and once they do, they can then focus on learning some of the simple strategies that should take beginning players and turn them into intermediate players.

But many people who have yet to play the game seem to be intimidated because it looks much more complicated than what it really is. However, the thought that roulette is a difficult game to learn couldn’t be farther from the truth as there are fewer games out there easier to learn than the game of roulette.

Rules for Online Roulette

The whole idea behind the game of roulette is to place a wager on the roulette board whether it’s a number or one of the many outside bets in hopes that when the ball stops rolling around the wheel it stops on one of the numbers or colors that the player wagered on. Each of the different bets kinds of bets will offer a different payout based on the odds of how likely it is to win using that bet.

Each of the different kinds of bets is listed for you below.

Inside/Outside Bets: Inside bets are simply bets that are made on any of the numbers from 1 to 36, and 00. Most casinos will have a minimum that has to be met to play which can be done by betting on one number or multiple numbers with no cap to how many numbers a player can wager on.

Outside bets are bets made on one of the many options including the color that the ball will land on, whether the number will be odd or even or wagers on columns of numbers. Basically any bet that is made outside of the numbers are considered ‘outside’ bets.

Straight Bets: Straights bets are bets that are made on one of the numbers. These bets have a payout of 35 to 1. An example of a straight bet would be a wager on the number 15, 22 or even the number 30. Any bet that is on a number is a ‘straight’ bet.

Split Bets: When a player makes a split bet, they are making a wager between two different numbers. This offers another avenue or better odds to win at odds of about 17 to 1. For example, a bet placed between 2 and 3 would pay 17 to 1 if the ball landed on either two or three on the wheel.

Street/Trio Bet: A street bet is a bet placed on a row of numbers such as 1 thru 3, 6 thru 9 and so forth. This type of bet offers odds of 11 to 1.

Six Line Bet: A six line bet is similar to a street bet except instead of wagering on only one line, it’s a wager on two lines. This type of wager offers odds of 6 to 1.

4 Number Bet/Corner Bet: Also known as a square bet, a 4 number or corner bet is a bet that is placed between 4 different numbers. For example, a corner bet would be a bet placed between the numbers of 14, 15, 17, and 18. If the ball lands on any one of these numbers the player will be paid the odds of 8 to 1.

Even Bet: An even bet will pay a player when the ball lands on any even number. This bets pays the odds of 1 to 1.

Odd Bet: Odd bets are the opposite of even bets. Players will be paid when the ball lands on an odd number at the rate of 1 to 1.

Red Bet: Just as it sounds, a bet placed on ‘red’ will pay players any time the ball lands on a red number. This has odds of 1 to 1.

Black Bet: A black bet has odds of 1 to 1 and will pay whenever the ball lands on a black number.

Low Bet: Low bets are a bet made on the 1 thru 18 area on the roulette board. This will pay out at odds of 1 to 1 whenever the ball lands on any number 1 thru 18.

High Bet: High bets are bets made on the 19 thru 36 area on the board. Similar to the low bet, this has odds of 1 to 1 and pays whenever the ball lands on the number 19 thru 36.

Dozen Bet: A dozen bet is a bet made on one of the areas that is listed as 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12 and pays out odds of 2 to 1.

Column Bets: When a player makes a column bet, they’re making a bet on the area that says 2 to 1. For example, one of the rows consists of the numbers 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31 and 34. When a bet is placed here and one of the numbers is landed on the player will be paid at the rate of 2 to 1.

Baccarat Rules

The ultimate goal in Baccarat is to make a hand that has a value as close to 9 as possible.

• All of the card’s value is determined by their face value. So for example, a 5 would be worth 5 points, 3 would be worth 3 points, 2 would be worth 2 points and so forth.

The exception to this rule is that all face cards have a face value of ’0′ points and aces have a value of 1.

Whenever a player has a face value of over 10, then the 10′s place is dropped to give the true value. The same thing applies if a player happens to have 26 (or something similar). The tens place would then be dropped and the player’s true value would then be 6.

Betting on your own hand pays out odds of 1 to 1 while betting on the banker pays out 1 to 1 minus a commission that will vary from casino to casino.

• After a player choose which hand they would like to wager on, the dealer than deals the player two cards. Now, based on the following rules that is common at most casinos, players will either have to ‘stand’ or will receive a 3rd card.

• In the event that a player is dealt an 8 or a 9, then the player will be considered to have been dealt a natural Baccarat and will then have to stand.

• If a player is dealt a 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, then that player is dealt another (3rd) card.

• In the scenario that a player is dealt a 6 or a 7, then that player is forced to stand and will not be dealt another card.

• If the player does not draw a card, then the banker will not be able to draw a card if they have a 6 or a 7.

• When the player does not draw another card and the banker has less than 5, then they are dealt another card.

• In the situation that a player draws a card and totals a 2 or a 3, then the banker will get another card if it is a 0 thru 4. If it is a 5, 6 or a 7, then the dealer will then have to stand.

• If a player draws a 4 or a 5, then the banker will stand on a 6 or a 7 and will draw a card if the dealer has a 5 or lower.

• When a player draws a 6 or a 7 the dealer will stand on a 7 and will draw on any hand 6 or lower.

• If a player draws an eight, the dealer will draw if they have a 0, 1 or a 2 and will stand on everything else.

• When players draw a face card, 10, ace or a nine, the banker will draw if they are holding a 0, 1, 2 or a 3 and will stand on everything else.

Playing Baccarat Online

Hopefully everyone can see how easy Baccarat is to learn and play. It really only takes a matter of minutes to learn and all of the rules that the casino has to follow depending on what cards a player or dealer is dealt can basically be ignored as players simply have no control over it. So, players just need to be familiar with the card values and the overall objective of Baccarat and the rest will simply come with hands on experience playing Baccarat at their favorite online casino.

How to Play Craps

The reason why Craps is so intimidating for newcomers is because there are so many different bets that can be made prior to the first roll of a player’s turn, also known as the come out roll.

But a player can ease him or herself into the game by learning the two most basic bets, the pass line and don’t pass bet. Once a player has an understanding of these two bets they can then expand into all of the other bets that can be made on the craps table.

Pass Line Bet

When a player makes a pass line bet, they’re making a ‘contract’ bet that cannot be withdrawn and pays even money.

The goal with a pass line bet is to have a 7 or 11 rolled so that they can win even money on their bet. For example, if a player was to wager $5 and a 7 or 11 were rolled, then their $5 would be returned as well as the $5 that the player won.

On the other hand, if the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or a 12 than this is known as craps; the player will lose his or her wager and then would have to place another bet.

The last scenario is when a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or a 10 are rolled. These would be referred to as points which we will explain after we explain the don’t pass bets. The one thing to keep in mind is that the pass line bet will stay even if a point is rolled.

Don’t Pass Bets

A don’t pass bet is virtually the complete opposite of a pass line bet. These bets are bets made against the shooter in hopes that the shooter will roll a 2, 3 or a 12 for a Craps. In the scenario that the shooter rolls a 12, then the bettor would then tie or ‘push.’ If the shooter rolls a 2 or a 3, then the bettor would win. The don’t pass bets can be retracted at any time therefore meaning that the bet is not a ‘contract’ bet. Lastly, don’t pass bets will also win if a 7 is rolled prior to a point being rolled.
Points

Now, as it was mentioned above, anytime a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 is rolled, then a point is placed at the table by a round disc with the word ‘on’ faced up. So for example, if an 8 is rolled, a disc with the word on is placed on the ’8′ on the craps table.

The goal for the shooter when a point is ‘on’ is to roll whatever point has been placed. Several points can be placed at once and can be continued to be placed and won as long as Craps is not rolled first. Once a 7 is rolled, all wagers will then be lost to the house and then it will be time for a new shooter and new bets to be wagered.

What has been explained above is Craps in its simplest form. Players can simply stick to pass and don’t pass bets and do just fine. However, once they have an understanding of these simple bets they will then want to move to the more advanced bets that we have listed below.

Crap Betting

Come Bets: When a player makes a ‘come’ bet, they are simply making a bet that is kind of in queue and can only be made after the come out roll. For example, if a player was to make a wager in the come bet square and roll the dice, that money in the come bet box would then go to whatever number was rolled. So if a $6 wager was put in the come bet box and a 5 was rolled, then that $6 would then be placed on the number 5. Of course then the shooter would then want to roll the ‘point’ before rolling a 7.

After the come bet has been placed on a number, it is up to a player to place another if they wish to do so. If a 7 is rolled instead of a point, then the player will win even money on the wager and if a 2, 3 or a 12 is rolled, then the come bet will then be lost to the house.

Don’t Come Bets: The don’t come bet is basically the opposite of a come bet. When players place a don’t come bet, they are hoping that a 7 is rolled before any of the points are rolled. This has better odds but stands to win less money since the odds are in a player’s favor.

Field Bet: A field bet is a bet that is made in the middle of the Craps table where ‘Field’ is labeled. This a one-roll bet where a player wagers on a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or a 12 in hopes that the next roll will result in one of those numbers. This type of bet favors the house with odds of 5 to 4.

Press Bet: Press bets are similar to let it ride type bets. The key difference is that players do not risk all of their winnings but only the same amount that they originally wagered. For example, if a player were to make a $6 on the number 6 where they are offered 7 to 6 odds and was paid $7 for winning, then $1 would be taken off the top and then the original $6 would then be re-wagered. The press bet is apart of many player’s strategies as it is possible to show a slight profit over time.

Hardway Bets: A hardway bet is a wager that is placed on the outcome of the shooter rolling a pair of 2′s thru 5′s that only loses if and when a 7 is rolled.

Proposition Bets: Proposition bets are bets on the other numbers such as 2-1, 5-6 and 1-1 that can be wagered on. These bets only last for one roll only and if the number is not rolled, then the wager is lost to the house and the player will then have to make another if they wish.

Hop Bet: Hop bets are when players wager on a specific combination that makes up a number. For example, a combination for a 4 would be a 3 and a 1.

Horn Bet: Horn bets are one-roll bets that can be placed on numbers 2, 3, 11 or 12.

Whirl Bet: Whirl bets are one-roll bets on 2, 3, 11 and 12 or on any die that makes a 7.

Place/Buy Bet: Buy and place bets are when a player buys a number in hopes that it is rolled before a 7 is rolled. These bets are working bets which means that the number is earning money until a 7 is rolled. In most casinos, these bets generally carry a commission which varies from casino to casino.

Lay Bets: Lay bets are the opposite of a place/buy bet in which a player wagers that a 7 will be rolled before the number is. Similarly to a place/buy bet, this type of bet carries a commission that will vary from casino to casino.

Yo Bet: A yo bet is a one time wager in hopes that the shooter will roll a 5-6.

How to Play Craps Overview

Now, while all of these different kinds of bets above can make Craps seem like a difficult game to learn, much less play, this really is not the case. From personal experience, the game of Craps only takes about 10 minutes to learn just enough to be able to hold your own. From there players can learn all of the different betting strategies that have been created for Craps so that players can reduce the house edge as much as possible in attempt to try to earn some money.
